MINT KYANITE... Just as we think our fantastic team of gemstone buyers have brought us just about every gem variety known to man in our 20 plus year history, they outdo themselves once again! Called mint kyanite due to its refreshing, spring-like minty hues, this unique gem hails from India's Orissa State. While you may be familiar with the gorgeous blue kyanite that resembles the finest sapphire and the chromium kyanite so similar in appearance to phenomenal alexandrite, this kyanite is distinctively different. Mint kyanite owes its 100% natural, untreated color primarily to its iron content, along with trace amounts of titanium responsible for its very slight bluish tint. Conspicuously absent from this uncommon kyanite is the color zoning that is so pronounced in many blue kyanite stones. And just like its chromium kyanite sibling, mint kyanite offers you a consistent, evenly-hued gem! Only discovered recently by local miners, mining is in the early stages of production, therefore predictions about future supply are questionable at best.
