He was a starving minor sifting the streams, digging with a pic shovel and blasting into the hillside in search for this treasured metal. He fell asleep after a long day and dreamed of his native vineyards. When he awoke, he stumbled across a patch of wild grapes that satisfied his hunger to continue the search. Although Heri LeBeau never found gold, he designed jewelry in honor of the life saving grapes. He alloyed other metals with gold to create the pink and green leaves in the unique tri-colored jewelry he called "good luck jewelry" which was the inspiration for the now famous Black Hills Jewelry.
