Madeleine Talmage Force Astor, quite the charmer! She was born in Brooklyn New York on June 19, 1893. Madeleine was destined for a high society lifetstyle. She was an accomplished tennis player, graduated from finishing school, well known New York society gal and distinguished amateur actress. Madeleine and her husband were the most talked about couple on the Titanic, not because he's the richest man aboard, or because Madeleine was a year younger than his 19-year-old son, or because he's more than twice her age. People have always talked about everything he does because he's John Jacob Astor IV, which is why Madeleine planned for weeks preparing for this extravagant trip and why she knows everyone will be anxious to see what jewels she will be wearing! You can almost hear the gasps from the ladies wishing they could look just like Madeleine Astor...the Titanic Princess.

Titanic Jewelry Collection

For four magical days, the Titanic's elite passengers reveled in every modern luxury known at the time. During the early part of the 20th century, it was considered quite sophisticated for wealthy families to spend portions of their time in Europe which meant crossing the Atlantic at least once per year. Even to these jaded travelers, the Titanic ship was like no other. Not only was it the most impressive ship of its time draped in every luxury imaginable but so were its passengers. The women of the Titanic would plan for months to bring the right fashionable apparel aboard such a luxurious ship. Along with extensive outfit planning came accessorizing: large hats, mink stoles, gloves and of course, the jewelry. Jewelry of that time was depictive of the Art Nouveau and Edwardian eras. Art Nouveau jewelry was influenced by naturalism involving unusual designs within a symmetrical frame often encompassing foliage, leaves, enamel, pearls, crystals and gemstones. Edwardian designs included more formal jewelry: tiaras, brooches, rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets and sautoir necklaces. Many were set with brilliant gemstones, including diamonds, crystals and of course, pearls. Join JTV as we embark upon a journey of adventure and elegance and celebrating the jewelry of the women aboard the Titanic.

Titanic Jewelry Collection (Tm) Madeleine's Princess Star Ring is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit disappointed Like many other reviewers, I found the stone to be a really dark blue, which isn't what I was expecting. Also, according to the on-air presentation, the stone is supposed to have a "star," like a star sapphire, but mine didn't have it. It was just a solid, very dark blue stone. However, having said that, it is a pretty ring, just not as presented. I will keep it because I like the style overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Questionable, at First Madeleine's Princess Star Ring and matching pendant (I'm going to review them at once here) looked absolutely elegant on the TV presentation, and of course, the stories of each woman just mesmerizes me. But, when I saw them both in person, I felt they were questionable in terms of being keepers, or not. First of all, they are QUITE large, which I normally love. But, these two pieces seemed larger than life, which may have been Madeleine's style, as well! With that in mind, and after wearing them in my home for a few hours, I began to love them more and more, eventually answering my initial question - Should I make them part of my extensive jewelry wardrobe? And, the answer was a resounding, "Yes"! Very happy with this beautiful set!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I gave this ring a 2 rating, not because it was not a pretty ring but because the color was so disappointing. The presentation showed it as a dark blue and it was very appealing BUT when I received it, it was so dark it appeared to be black. I put it in all different lights trying to get the blue to come though but no luck. Did not want a black ring so it is going back. Otherwise it was a pretty style, stone size was nice and it fit well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Beautiful ring, but the stone is way to big for my short size 7 ring finger. If ordering it makes a better index finger ring. I had to return, but do love the ring.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from big stone I like the style of the ring. However, the stone of the ring is too big for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from All rings not created equally I agree with bits and pieces of most of the reviews. The ring design is great down to the clear accent stones. Size of oval cabochon was proportional. However, the ring I received was NOT sapphire color blue resin as described. My stone was black and everyone seeing it thought it was black onyx. Since I don't carry a flashlight around to hunt for hidden color, I can only conclude this ring is the exception and not the rule; no noticeable blue. Maybe the majority of other rings were spot on, but since mine was not it will be returned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO SAY. When I open the box and saw the ring, I could not belive how beatufiul it was. I was watching the night of the Titanic show and the Host said this is a must. I was hoping it was going to be pretty and different, It is beautiful and I think that people will be asking me about the ring. Great price and Thank JTV for bring the Titanic Jewelry collection to us and all of the story that went on that night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THANK GOODNESS THIS RING WAS NOT LOST AT SEA! I like many of the pieces in the Titanic Collection. This ring is one of the original items from when the line debuted. It is large & dramatic and goes with everything! If you don't like large rings and don't want to get noticed, then this ring is NOT for you! This was one of my first purchases outside of my "comfort zone." I had always bought very small delicate rings. Thanks JTV for showing me I could go big!
