Blue Turquoise and Chrome Diopside 18k Yellow Gold Over Sterling Silver Snake Pendant
- Product Videos
In ancient mythology, the snake was a symbol of healing, rebirth, and immortality. For centuries it has been a symbol of temptation and charm.
This pendant is a not-so-obvious depiction of the snake. The bold, blue turquoise piece that crowns the snake’s head looks more like a center-stone setting than the head of a snake. The detailing of the scales takes on a quilted look that is all about textural appeal. Snake? What snake? Okay … it does curve in a snake-like way … and, of course, when you look closely at the side of the pendant, those big, green, chrome diopside eyes are (if you’ll pardon the almost-pun) a dead giveaway that this is, indeed, a snake.
For centuries, the snake has fascinated us. From the Garden of Eden to contemporary wizard stories to snake charmers, the snake serves multiple roles.
Sometimes it’s that sneaky, hiding-quietly element we envision. The truth is, that the art of lying in quiet, and waiting, has much appeal. The capacity to shed its skin has long led the snake to be associated with re-birth and immortality. Re-birth, the chance to start life again, is synonymous with correcting past evils and moving to a better place; moving to a life of good.
And, of course, the snake is a symbol of healing. The capacity to charm a snake is synonymous with control over powerful forces.
We can’t say that this snake pendant will do any of the above. However, we will say that we think you will enjoy this piece. Whatever else it does or doesn’t do for you, if it makes you smile it is worth its weight!!!
