Product Information
1.75ct round tanzanite with .01ctw round white diamond accent rhodium over sterling silver stud earrings. Measure approximately 0.31"L X 0.31"W. Push-back backings

Only known to the world since its introduction in 1967, tanzanite is one of the most remarkable 20th gemstone discoveries. When it was brought to the public by Tiffany & Co., their President Henry Platt described its discovery as “the most important blue gemstone find in 2,000 years”. While its discovery was first believed to be a new find of sapphire, tanzanite now stands on its own merits. It is known as a single source gemstone as it is commercially mined in but one small area in the shadows of Tanzania’s Mt. Kilimanjaro. Although its history may be brief, tanzanite’s importance and desirability can be compared to that of more ancient gems such as sapphire and spinel. Tanzanite is additionally known for its pleochroism, when three distinct colors are visible as a gemstone or crystal is viewed from different angles. Due to this property, lapidaries can facet crystals ranging in color from blue-violet to violet-blue and their decision is typically based on how much of the rough crystal’s weight they want to retain. As mining operations have narrowed in recent times, tanzanite’s future remains in question and supplies have dwindled as the Tanzanian government has intervened in mining operations. Said to be a thousand times rarer than diamond, tanzanite is unquestionably one of the world’s most sought-after and desirable gems. We invite you to indulge yourself today with luxurious, beautiful tanzanite!

In 1997, in a nation on the other side of the world, tanzanite was discovered. It was not a big deal … until it ascended the world’s gemstone stage to take its rightful place as one of history’s biggest jewelry stars.

These earrings resonate with the kind of color that made tanzanite desirable then and equally as desirable today.

We love the halo-style settings of rhodium over sterling silver. They form the perfect backdrop for these blue stunners. We think that the mined-diamond accents set in each halo add the kind of value these tanzanite deserve.

And on the subject of deserving … we know you need to do something special for you. And you need to do it … now.

Star in your very own celebration. Wear tanzanite!
