We invite you to discover the beauty of this delightful blue cuprian Mozambique Paraiba tourmaline. In the early 2000's, an important new source of copper-bearing tourmaline was found in Mozambique, Africa. These gems had a "glow" that other tourmalines simply didn't due to their copper content. This created a new and more vivid color palette that hadn't been seen since the original find of copper-bearing tourmaline in 1989 in Paraiba, Brazil. The famous Brazilian Paraiba tourmalines hit the market at the September 1989 Hong Kong show. By the end of the show, prices had moved up significantly because the copper created new shades and boosted tourmaline colors to new levels. Extremely exciting to gem lovers worldwide, there sadly came a time in the 1990's when it was announced the Brazilian find was largely mined out. Yet prices continued to soar because everyone wanted these copper-bearing tourmalines. A few years later, more bad news followed from Mozambique that those deposits had also been largely mined out. This has caused prices for those stones to rise dramatically in recent years. Today, beautiful cuprian, copper-bearing, tourmaline continues to be a favorite of gem collectors and dealers worldwide. Make this very special beauty yours today!
