Getting Started

Sizing Information

U.S. ring sizes are determined by a scale of numbers and half numbers, usually between sizes 3 and 13.5 for adults. Each ring size matches the width of your finger in millimeters.

Women’s rings are usually between 3 and 9. Men’s rings are sized between 8 and 14.

Measurement Tips

  • Measure your ring size in the morning when your body is the coolest. Heat can make your fingers swell and affect the measurement.
  • Measure the finger you are going to wear your ring on. Every finger size can be different, even the same fingers on opposite hands.
  • Allow some additional room for added comfort. The wider the band, the tighter a fit so keep this in mind when taking measurements of your size.
  • Find a ring size that will fit over your knuckles but isn’t loose enough to fall off.

Three Simple Ring Sizing Methods

1) Measure a Ring You Already Own

There are two easy ways you can measure a ring you already own and for both ways, you will need to download and print JTV’s ring sizing guide.

This PDF will provide you with multiple options on sizing your ring, allowing you to double check the size of your ring so you can buy more rings that will fit similarly.

This method is perfect if you’re looking to surprise someone with a ring, because all it takes is:

  • A ring that already fits comfortably
  • Ruler
  • Printed copy of the ring sizing guide

Download our ring sizing guide (DOWNLOAD GUIDE) to get started with this method.

Option 1: Measure the inside diameter of the ring. Take the measurement in millimeters and finally, using the ring sizing guide, match the ring sizing range listed on the guide to the appropriate ring size.

Option 2: If you have a ring that fits perfectly already, simply take the ring and place it over the circles on the chart or on the images of ring sizes below. Once you find the circle that matches the area inside your ring, you will have its approximate measurement!

2) Measure Your Ring Size Using a String

If you don’t have a ring to size, measure your finger to get the ring size just right.

Gather the following materials before you get started:

  • String or a paper strip
  • Pen or marker
  • Ruler
  • JTV’s ring sizing chart (DOWNLOAD RING SIZING CHART)

Step 1:

Cut a piece of string (or a paper strip) that is at least 3 inches long.

Step 2:

Wrap it around your finger at the base of the knuckle and using a pen, mark where the two ends overlap.

Step 3:

Lay the string flat and using a ruler, measure the length in millimeters. Reference the ring sizing chart to find the size that corresponds.
