Director of Operational Analytics

Jewelry Television’s role of Director of Operational Analytics is bi-lingual. The Analytics team is looking for a person that can speak the technical language our company uses and translate that to a comprehensive end user experience. So much of what JTV does in propelling our consumer initiatives forward relies heavily on the ability of our Analytics and Product Development groups. The Director of Operational Analytics will serve as a liaison between Business Analytics and the Technology Division (i.e. Software Engineering, Technology Operations, Data Infrastructure, Database Administration). They can translate analytics models and insights and mold them into the action items for the teams in Technology. The Director of Operational Analytics must aggressively champion analytical insights and oversee their implementation into enterprise software. Just as the analytics team must produce the work for the Director of Operational Analytics, the Director of Operational Analytics must provide the strategic approach for operationalizing the delivery of analytics to the internal customers. The Director of Operational Analytics champions the voice of the internal customer/end user. This position’s largest accountability is ensuring that analytics and technology are delivered to the organization. Most specifically we are looking for a problem solver who can take complex situations and break them down to ensure the technology team is creating the ultimate end user experience that meet the needs and objectives of the business initiative that it solves.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Work with Business Analysts to determine how to properly operationalize and deliver analytics insights to the organization.
• Work with the JTV’s operational leaders to determine user needs and desired business outcomes that support operationalizing the new analytical insights developed by the analytics teams
• Work with Information Technology and Business Analytics teams for project planning,
implementation goal setting, and prioritizing the implementation sequence.
• Provide timely, effective visual, written, and verbal communication on project vision and the status of project activities in collaboration with the Technology Product Development teams, helping to effectively manage stakeholder expectations regarding status, risks and necessary trade-offs as functionality emerges;
• Responsible for reviewing the end user functionality and documentation;
• Monitor and document post-implementation problems and revision requests;
• Special projects as assigned by Executive or Management team.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college preferred, or the equivalent of 8 to 10 years experience and/or training in technology or business related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• MBA, Analytics / Economics, or advanced CS degree is a plus;
• Knowledge of data architecture and SQL programming experience is preferred;
• Must have experience and knowledge of Agile methods and SCRUM methodology;
• Project management and/or Business Analyst experience is preferred;
• Analytical modeling experience is preferred;
• Previous Project Management experience in a technical role is preferred.
• Required computer experience with demonstrated advanced Microsoft Office skills;
• Advanced oral and written communications skills;
• Requires strong organizational skills with attention to detail;
• Some knowledge of databases, service-oriented architectures, and agile software development is preferred.
