Elian Schlesinger
Both my grandfather and father were in the diamond and jewelry business. I learnt the trade at a very young age and as soon as I graduated high school I went into the family business. I started off at the bench making handmade jewelry and went on to become head designer for our gold and diamond business.
I love gifting our Moda Lucido hoop earrings and Moda omega necklace. They are quintessential Italian looks loved by all.
I don't wear any jewelry except a Moda al Massimo comfort fit wedding band, however my wife always travels with Moda hoops, necklace and bracelet. Easy to wear and always looks good without being overdressed.
I love scintillation and reflection so when I see the sun shimmering over a body of water I feel inspired to create patterns and textures that mimic that movement and coruscation. I typically seek inspiration from nature, art, fashion or personal experiences.
My favorite gemstone to work with is diamond. Nothing in the world like diamonds both in creativity and beauty.
I will start off with inspiration and conceptualization and then create basic sketches to outline size and flow. The next step is selecting the type of metal, gemstones and other decorative elements that will be used in the jewelry piece. I then create a more detailed design which may involve creating a computer generated model or physical prototype of the jewelry piece.
