Product Information
Cambodian blue zircon minimum 2.25ct 9x7mm oval. Gemstone mined in Cambodia and cut in Thailand.

The Stone:
Zircon has been around long enough to tell all the stories. Did you know it is the oldest known gemstone or mineral ever found at 4.3 billion years old? In fact, zircon is often used to determine the date of other rocks and even diamonds!
Fine blue zircons are the most valuable. Their color is very distinctive and is closest in resemblance to fine blue Mozambique Paraiba tourmaline or the very finest of aquamarines.

The Story:
Marbode, in the 11th century, wrote that zircon was an excellent amulet for travelers and would ensure safety, rest and a warm welcome at the end of a journey. Some later cultures attributed the stone with lending prudence in practical things (linked thereby to financial success), and providing protection from lightning. What do we believe about zircon? We believe that it is lovely.

The Savvy Shopper:
Don't confuse zircon with cubic zirconia. Despite their close names, they are unrelated. Very chemically resistant with a good hardness, your zircon will outlast many gems. They can abrade however, so it is best set in rings for occasional rather than everyday wear, the high luster and dispersion make it an excellent choice for light catching settings such as earrings, necklaces or pendants.
