Product Information

Bixbite .43ct 5.01x4.30mm emerald cut collector's specimen. The gemstone comes with a AGTA Gemological Testing Center Identification Report. The stone was mined in Utah and cut in the United States.

Bixbite, or red beryl, is an American gemstone that is extremely rare. Named for mineralogist Maynard Bixby, who discovered it in 1904, Bixbite is one of the rarest and most valuable of all gemstones. It can rival even the finest Burmese rubies, yet is many times more rare. Like its sibling emerald, bixbite is usually heavily included but unlike emerald, it does not get very large. Less than one carat, finer quality bixbite is valuable and sought after by gem collectors. This sweet gem is .43 carats. It is AGL certified as having no enhancement (treatment.) Like its sibling, emerald, this stunning bixbite gem has internal fractures that were caused by its geological formation. For this reason, we suggest this gem is better suited for your gemstone collection rather than set into a piece of fine jewelry. With very little mining occurring today, this rare and attractive American red beauty is waiting to be included in your 'rarest of the rare' collection.

JTV's President's Collection offers prestigious gemstones hand-selected by our very own President and Chief Executive Officer of Jewelry Television, Tim Matthews.

Tim is an accomplished scholar and life member of the Gemological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A). His academic credentials include a Juris Doctor (JD) from Harvard Law School, Gemology (FGA) and Diamond (DGA) diplomas from the Gemological Association of Great Britain, and a Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

With a deep passion for gemstones and jewelry, he has personally curated each item in this exquisite collection. When you acquire an item from JTV's President's Collection, you can be assured that you have a special gem from our most exclusive collection.
