Like everything, it takes practice.....I love my Magical Crimpers!! It does take some time and practice to get the feel for how to use them, and occasionally, I still get a bad crimp. But for my overall stringing use, I use these exclusively. I love that it creates a little bead, and I don't have to mess with crimp covers!!! I have had success with several sizes of stringing wire, and both size 2 and size 3 crimp tubes. Seriously, take 20 minutes, watch the online instructions, and practice. If you give it a chance, I think you will love it too!!! December 16, 2013

handles are too small...after a couple of practice crimps I finally got the hang of it, but than by that time the palm of my hand got pretty sore. I feel the handles are way too small February 03, 2014

Just ok - try a regular crimp pliers insteadI agree with the previous reviewer that they shouldn't be called universal because of the crimp size limitation and also what I wrote below. I did decide to keep this pliers because of some finishing touches. I worked at getting the crimp tubes to look like beads and it took a while but I was able to get a pretty good facsimile of one. However, the wire slips out of the crimp much too easily. Sarah (the product rep on Jewel School) said that this works best with the Softflex wire (that she sells) and the actual silver or gold crimp ;tubes. Apparently these "catch" the wire better. But what is "universal" if you have to be so selective in the product you use. Try using a regular crimp pliers. You can get a rounded bead but a much stronger crimp. Use the normal process and then use the second crimp to round the crimp. Or you can use the universal pliers to round the bead - this does work better to round it then the crimp pliers. Even though there is the fold line, it still looks nice. February 03, 2014

Disappointed!I received this item and upon opening the package, the yellow handles of the pliers were dirty, as if the tool itself was used. I was surprised at the size of these, a lot smaller than expected. I looked and saw that it said to use 2mm tube crimps...well, in my opinion, that is not "universal".....should be able to use with any shape/size. I didn't even try them out but immediately packed them up and shipped them back! February 03, 2014

2nd step is key to successOn the first try, the crimp tube came out wonky. But then I realized when I did step 2 and was turning the crimp tube-the tube has to be kept straight up and down and in the cut out circle. Once I did that it came out perfect. I love not needing a crimp cover! October 13, 2013

Not greatSo sorry for the poor rating. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not having great success with this tool. I watched it demonstrated on air & was quite impressed. However, I'm not able to achieve the same results. It's supposed to work for size 2 crimps, but this tool hasn't worked for 2s or any other size either. I'll keep practicing. February 03, 2014

Beads from crimp tubesYes... It's possible with these pliers to have your ugly crimped tube come out looking like a silver bead. I'm the worlds worst crimper and still new to making jewelry so every tool that helps me out with my least favorite part of the jewelry process is 5 stars. The crimpers a tidally start out with the four corners then you crimp in a circle til you have an oval bead that securely holds your wires. I still need to go over technique and no crimp covers will ever be needed;) December 16, 2013
