Dorothy Gibson was a first class passenger who boarded the Titanic in France at the age of 22. Dorothy Winifred Brown Gibson was a well-known movie star in 1912. She lived in Hoboken, New Jersey before she was "discovered." Dorothy worked as a singer and dancer in a number of Broadway musicals and got even more attention as the original "Harrison Fisher Girl." Her face appeared on everything from magazine covers and postcards to several kinds of merchandise. Dorothy Gibson would likely bow and accept this beautiful rose as her standing ovation.

Titanic Jewelry Collection

For four magical days, the Titanic's elite passengers reveled in every modern luxury known at the time. During the early part of the 20th century, it was considered quite sophisticated for wealthy families to spend portions of their time in Europe which meant crossing the Atlantic at least once per year. Even to these jaded travelers, the Titanic ship was like no other. Not only was it the most impressive ship of its time draped in every luxury imaginable but so were its passengers. The women of the Titanic would plan for months to bring the right fashionable apparel aboard such a luxurious ship. Along with extensive outfit planning came accessorizing: large hats, mink stoles, gloves and of course, the jewelry. Jewelry of that time was depictive of the Art Nouveau and Edwardian eras. Art Nouveau jewelry was influenced by naturalism involving unusual designs within a symmetrical frame often encompassing foliage, leaves, enamel, pearls, crystals and gemstones. Edwardian designs included more formal jewelry: tiaras, brooches, rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets and sautoir necklaces. Many were set with brilliant gemstones, including diamonds, crystals and of course, pearl. Review This Product
Oops, why the gap in the pave?Loved the rose stone color, loved the stem, hated the obvious gap in the pave-it quit before it got even close to the next petal. How is that not to be noticed?! June 27, 2014

Beautiful broochThis brooch is very beautiful, and if you enjoy Titanic, or enjoy wearing brooches, this is a very lovely brooch to add to your collection. I did think it was over-priced, but it is still a lovely design and very beautiful piece that you will wear often. March 25, 2014

Stunning show pieceThis was a Xmass gift for my father to give to my mother. Of all the Titanic jewelry, this broach stood out; it was part of the header, and I wasn't sure that it was attainable. I clicked on the picture and Wahlah! it came up as a sale product. When I received it , this broach was larger and of good quality. Imagine if this was made of red and white diamonds? However, the crystals are high grade as described. Overall great piece;and, the only thing daunting was the pin-catch/lock. It took a little manipulation to seat the pin and lock it in. BeautifulI love the Titanic Jewelry Colleciton. This brooch is so beautiful. I have a collection of Titanic items to creat a Shadow box, so I can display the set without anyone touching the items. December 22, 2012

ShimmeryI love the red glow that shimmers in every stone. The brooch is very heavy and well crafted. I almost can't wait until winter to put it on the lapel of my coat. I really like the Titanic collection and Janie. August 07, 2012

Mixed emotions but still want replacement.......First off I have a question for the reviewer by the name of kosia. Would the stone that fell out happen to be the 8th white crystal up from the bottom of the stem? When I received my pendant, I noted that the 8th white crystal from the bottom of the stem is raised and possibly not set properly. I fear it will fall out. Also the pin clasp on my broach is ratter loose. I also ordered Madeline's broach which has a very tight and good quality clasp. I will be asking for an exchange for my Dorothy's Broadway Rose Broach for another that has a quality well fitted clasp and also does not have any crystals appearing to be set improperly. Overall I really like the jewelry I ordered from the titanic collection, however I do feel the price is a bit outrageous for the materials used to create these pieces. Still I want a replacement for my Dorothy's Broadway Rose Broach because it is a piece of history and worth that much to me. May 23, 2012

Nice pin, poor workmanshipI was really hoping to add this beautiful pin to my collection, but will have to send it back because one of the stones is already missing after just ONE DAY of wearing the pin. It is very unfortunate that JTV is selling an expensive costume jewelry like this that has such poor quality. April 14, 2012
