Product Description

Masasi Blue Color Change Garnet Minimum .75ct 7x5mm Pear Shape With Strong Color Change. Mined In Tanzania, Cut In Thailand.

The exotic East African country of Tanzania has poured forth several gemstone riches in recent years, including Tanzanite, Umba River Rhodolite, Serengeti Spessartite and many more, but one of the most special and more recent discoveries is Masasi Blue Garnet. Yes, blue garnet. Extremely rare and relatively new to the world of gemstones, blue was the last holdout in the far ranging color span of garnet. But no more. Hailing from near the Masasi district of Tanzania's Mtwara region, Masai Blue Garnet represents some of the finest blue color change garnet ever unearthed! It is indeed a phenomenal gem of highest quality. With rich blue color in daylight, Masasi Blue Garnet quickly changes to a dramatic purplish red in incandescent lighting, making one feel as if something magical just appeared before their very eyes. One can never be sure how long these amazing gems will be around, so secure your Masasi Blue Garnet today, only on JTV and jtv.com!

Review This Product
Fastly Becoming My FavoriteThis material is off the charts. Mine came in at .85 points and was less than half off at the auction. The deep purple red hughes are second to none. No collection is complete without these. November 06, 2013

Blue Garnet BluesUnfortunately, the stone I received was devoid of color change. It wasn't even much on the red flashes present in the much less expensive (though smaller) rounds I received at the same time. It's going back, but mostly because I also ordered a smaller ct wt pear that has much better color flash properties, for half the price. I'm trying to get hold of as many of the blue garnets as possible, given their rarity, but when I can obtain samples with more sparkle for less, there's no contest. The big pear goes back, the smaller one stays, along with the 2 3mm rounds I got for $51 ea. Overall, no harm no fowl. I'd say if you don't mind a lack of red fire or color change, but just want to add a blue garnet to your collection, this is a fine option, but it shouldn't be labeled color change. August 02, 2013

Pretty and CleanI louped this stone and even with the magnification it still appeared clean and almost flawless. August 02, 2013

Chock Full of Magical Surprises!Wow! I can't begin to describe how cool these stones are! You must see them live to really appreciate them. I expected one color change but really they do alot more than that! I purchased two of these little beauties and one starts out purple and goes to a steele blue, black, to somewhat greenish, to violet with blue highlights, and blue with red highlights. The other starts out what I would describe as an Indicolite blue and changes to Cornflower Blueish purple (like Tanzanite color), to black, and then in certain lighting will actually go to a chrome green! (In fact it's chrome green right now as I'm writing this under incandescent light). I was not able to capture that in my photos but did get pictures showing the Indicolite Blue phase and the purple changing from blue! I could stare at these for hours! Not only are they really fun to watch as they change color, they're very clean and nicely faceted too! They weren't inexpensive, but considering all the unusual tricks they do right before your eyes I think they are definitely worth the money! They are difficult to photograph because what you see with your eye is not always picked up the same on camera, but I did manage to get a few good shots of them. August 02, 2013
