Acrylic Pliers Rack

 

Tool, triangular, bent acrylic stand for pliers. Makes identifying, storing, and using tools easier.

 

Adhesive

Anvil, Desktop

 

Tool, small steel anvil containing a rounded horn at one end and a flattened horn at the other. Contains 1 hole for riveting and a horn for forming.

 

Awl, Beading

 

Tool, sharp gradual point on one end, used for sliding knots and making holes in soft materials. Also used with the Designer Bead Opener to open seamed bead to make crimp covers.

 

Badge Clip

 

Jewelry Findings, used for securing all types of identifying badges, most contain swivels.

 

Bail

 

Jewelry Findings, used to attach pendants to cord, chain, earwires, etc.

 

Bail, Pendant

 

Jewelry Findings, used to attach pendants to cord, chain, earwires, etc.

 

Bail, Pinch

 

Jewelry Findings, bail that "pinches" closed to attach a pendant or bead.

 

Ball Head Pin

 

Jewelry Findings, head pin with a round ball at the end instead of a flattened surface.

 

Ball/Star Head Pin

 

Jewelry Findings, head pin with a round ball inside of a curved star at the end instead of a flattened surface.

 

Base Metal

 

Raw Material, the term base metal is a generally accepted term for any number of metals that do not contain any precious metal. Base metals can be any combination of brass, tin, or copper.

 

Battery Operated Reamer

 

Tool, Introduced by Beadalon in 2004. Makes holes in beads bigger, will not drill a hole but will enlarge the hole. Operates via battery motor and replacement tips are available.

 

Bead

 

Jewelry Findings, any small object containing a hole that can be strung and worn. See: "Bead Bumpers", "Flat Disc Spacers", "Magatama", "Seed Bead", "Treasure bead", "Cube bead", and "Seamed bead".

 

Bead Boards, Bead Design Boards

 

Accessory, surface for beading may contain single or multiple grooves for quick bead selection and ease of stringing. Made of flocked plastic.

 

Bead Bumpers

 

Jewelry Findings, Tm by Beadalon (2005), Bead bumpers are tiny, stretchy, silicone beads used for spacing between pearls or other beads that mimic the look of knots between pearls or beads when strung on Beadalon wire or other stringing materials. Can also trap beads in an "illusion style" when used with memory wire or .024 wire or thicker.

 

Bead Caps

 

Jewelry Findings, approximately 1/3 of one side of a bead with a center hole, may contain piercings in ornate patterns, used to "cap" a bead at either end to enhance the look of the bead, available in many base metals and precious metals.

 

Bead Cord

 

Stringing material, any type of material used for stringing beads, general term.

 

Bead Counters

 

Tool, plastic, rectangular tray containing varying size compartments for counting quantities of beads 2-8mm.

Bead Mats

 

Tool, vellux mat allows a good working surface for beadwork of all kinds.

 

Bead Opener

 

Tool, Created by Beadalon in 2005. Kit contains a beading awl with a sharp gradual point on one end and a handle at the other and a 1'' cube of acrylic with a hole in the top center. To use, steady a seamed bead on the end of the Awl and push the awl through the bead and into the hole of the acrylic tube until the bead opens enough to be used as a crimp cover.

 

Bead Ready

 

Findings, TM by Beadalon in 2007. A 20'' piece of either 7 strand or 19 strand Beadalon wire is pre-attached on one side to an EZ-crimp end. Simply string beads onto the wire and finish by inserting the unattached end into the EZ-Crimp end and using EZ-crimp pliers to attach.

 

Bead Reamer

Bead Scoop

 

Tool, 6 1/8" curved piece of metal with one end narrowing to a rounded point. Used to scoop up loose beads.

 

Bead Storage Box

 

Tool, storage unit containing 8 or 17 compartments for storage of beading materials.

 

Bead Stringing Glue

 

Adhesive, Tm by Beadalon (2007) glue specifically made for gluing silk and other stringing products, with precision applicator tip.

 

Bead Tips

 

Jewelry Findings, small semi-circular finding containing a hole and a long "finger" The hole in the bead tip is used for stringing material, the material is tied into a knot and the knot is pulled into the cupped portion, the finger is then bent down to form a loop for attaching to the clasp.

 

Bead, Seed

 

Beads, any small bead usually made of glass with a large diameter hole for making multiple passes with stringing materials. Countries of manufacturing include China, Czech Republic, and Japan, in order of quality Japanese being the best.

BeadFix Adhesive

 

Adhesive, Tm by Beadalon in 2004. This cyanoacrylate glue (fast adhesion) is excellent for joining non-porous materials such as metal, stones, glass and plastic.

 

BeadFix Adhesive Gel

 

Adhesive, Tm by Beadalon in 2004. Cyanoacrylate glue in gel form, also useful for gap filling.

 

Beading Awl

 

Hand tool with a sharp gradual point on one end, used for sliding knots and making holes in soft materials.

Binding Wire

Caseband

 

The edge, or side, of a watchcase, often defined as the area between the bezel and the caseback.

Cord End, Fold Over

 

Jewelry Findings, cord end shaped like a "U" with a ring on one end. To connect to cording, use chain nose pliers to fold one side of the U over the stringing cord, then fold-down the other side to secure the stringing cord in place. Use a dab of glue for extra security.

 

Cord End, Spring

 

Jewelry Findings, cord end with a coil of wire and a ring on one end. To use, gently press the coil end down around the cording with chain nose pliers.

 

Crimp

 

Jewelry Findings, small metal bead or tube that is formed around a wire loop for holding the ends of stringing wire.

 

Crimp Bead

 

Jewelry Findings, Use with the appropriate size crimping tool to secure the clasp to a strung piece of jewelry. Also used to secure beads in place for "illusion style" jewelry. Small round bead either plated, silver, or gold. Also available in Sterling Silver.

Curved Squeeze Scissors

 

Tool, scissors made of spring steel that do not contain holes for fingers, simply squeeze the handles and the scissors close, great for cutting apart knotted pearls while holding needle and silk to re-string the pearls as they are cut from the original strand. The tips of these squeeze scissors are curved making it easier to cut the knots between pearls close to the pearl.

Bead, Tm by Beadalon in 2006. Cubic Zirconia stones (round, oval, pear, & princess cut) with one or two holes drilled through the stone allowing for jump rings to be inserted for stringing or hanging from chain or other findings. This product allows for faceted stones to be included by designers who do not have the skill set of setting stones.

Jewelry Findings, that does not pierce the ear, rather it clips to the earlobe and holds via a spring.
