Product Description

Mahaleo (R) Ruby, 13.38ct Oval, Faceted, 10k Yellow Gold Enhancer. The Drop Measures Approximately 1 1/8" And The Bail Is 3.5mm.

A special offering to you from Jewelry Television, Mahaleo stones are rich, vibrant and most affordable. Mahaleo stones hail from the exotic continent of Africa, including the island nation of Madagascar. Madagascar, long recognized as one of the most biologically diverse areas on the planet, is one of the primary sources for our Mahaleo offerings. The Madagascar stones are large in size, but often contain numerous inclusions and fissures, so a method to enhance their beauty was developed and perfected. The ingenious process involves filling the natural inclusions with molten lead glass. As the glass replaces air within the gems, the inclusions become less visible and their clarity is dramatically improved. Because their allure and essence match that of premier colors from other locales, they are aptly named Mahaleo, meaning 'to equal, to match, to paralle' in Malagasy, one of Madagascar's official languages.

Review This Product
BeautifulA valentine's gift but hubby wanted me to look at before lol Beautiful stone and agree that it would not fit on big omega, it fits perfect on my 4 mm one. It looks like it costs thousands of dollars. Thanks JTV for another winner! I wear it with my ruby bracelet that hubby got me for Christmas from you! January 03, 2014

Outstanding ruby enhancer!I have been looking for a large ruby pendant in yellow gold for a while now. I did find a few I loved but they were 'extremely' expensive. I was about to give up, when I checked again at my favorite jewelry store, JTV, and there was a gorgeous 13+ carat mahaleo ruby pendant in a gold setting. Even better, it was an enhancer. And it was hundreds less than the ones I had found from other stores.I was anxious to receive it to see if it was as beautiful as it looked on-line. It was a gorgeous, clean, blood red stone. I am thrilled with this purchase!! July 01, 2014

Love this red ruby pendant!I didn't think I would like the Mahaleo ruby and have been resisting buying Mahaleo's but the size and design of this pendant intrigued me. It is just as pretty in person as it was on the TV screen. Maybe better! At any rate...love it! January 03, 2014

Poor Design May Cause Loss of GemI counted the days until my ruby pendant arrived, and now, a day after arrival, I'm returning it. It's almost criminal to take such a large ruby and place it in a setting too flimsy and too poorly designed to hold the gem. Yesterday, the day of arrival, I put it on a gold chain. The enhancer kept turning on its sides and wouldn't hang flat, due to the design of the setting. I tried it on a gold omega, which helped, somewhat, to stabilize it. However, the omega was too hot to wear in 101 degree heat. Today, the next morning, I placed it on a heavier gold chain. It still rolled from side to side and wouldn't lay flat. After about 20 minutes, all of a sudden, the ruby enhancer dropped off the chain. Fortunately, I was seated at my desk, and the gem landed in my lap. I'm asking myself, how in the heck did it come off? The bale had popped open, possibly from rolling from one side to the other??? When I tried closing the bale, it was very loose and wouldn't stay closed. It seems that the gold bale is way too thin to support the weight of the gem. The mounting is so poorly designed, that the enhancer rolls from side to side. This is not what I paid over $300 for. One would think that the designer(s) would have caught these problems before selling it to the public. So now, I'm out shipping and handling costs. I bought the insurance, but seriously doubt they will want to design a better bale and mounting. I don't want a replacement as I don't trust the bale and mounting design. As an added note, the ruby was average when compared to my other Mahaleo rubies, but I would have kept this one because of its size. This purchase goes back in tomorrow's mail. I'm asking for refund of all costs including shipping and handling. August 06, 2014

I love rubies...and this enhancer is no exception. While I agree that the basket under the stone doesn't need to be as deep as it is, the size and color of the stone make it quite impressive. The color is a rich red not dark like a garnet. I wear it on an omega necklace to keep it from tipping over. Being an enhancer, the necklace clasp isn't a consideration. February 04, 2014

Big and beautifulThis is a really big, beautiful piece that will jump out and say hello to everyone who sees it. January 03, 2014

GOOD FOR THE PRICEThis piece is nice for the price. I wouldn't pay more for it than I did though because, (as I'm finding often with JTV), their isn't enough gold weight in the settings which makes the stone tend to flip. Wear it on a thicker chain and it should be fine. The stone is nice and large and looks good on the neckline but don't expect a Ruby made for Royalty, this one is opaque with flashes of red. Also, you probably won't, (or shouldn't), get to bent out of shape on what type of box it comes in unless your planning on giving it as a gift. All in all, I found this to be a nice piece for the low cost. January 03, 2014

nice stone, bad casting. pearls work with itThis is a lovely ruby that looks incredibly expensive! I rate the stone of good value and qulaity; but the casting is poor and only works for use on a small or medium sized pearl or bead strand. The casting is a strange, very deep series of three thin, welded wires forming the back basket area. This casting causes the stone to flip to the back and flop on its side; it only sits forward if you dont move around, so you constanty need to turn it over stright after every movement and it is just not possible to wear it like that. However, it looks beautiful on a string of pearls, and the weight of the pearls makes it sits straight and forward, without fliping over, like it should. But i wanted a pendant to wear every day on a chain. i kept it because of the beautiful stone, but now i regret it since i cant find anouther casting for it and now it is past my 30 day return window. if you want a pendent enhancer for use on pearls you will Love this--it would be perfect and look like a million bucks. You will dislike it if you want to use it on a chain. August 06, 2014

To darkI got this pendant and was disappointed. It is a great size but it is to dark. To me it looks like a very dark red garnet. I was hoping for a more lighter flashy color. I will be sending this one back and trying another pendant like this that I saw. Would recommend if you want a dark stone with not much flash or sparkle. To me it didn't sparkle at all. Sending back! casting should be better - stone is turning to theStone is big, rich looking and beautiful, even it's not transparent enough (but I did not have natural ruby before, so not sure how it should be), looks nice in gold, but casting is not perfect - big stone is always turning to the sides, and this is why I would not recommend it to friends. Still, I love the stone and'll keep it, on gold chain (I don't think it's too nice on peals), I have also kind of maching big ring to it from my previous collection. July 01, 2014
