Pre-Owned Rolex FAQ

Q. What does ‘Pre-Owned’ mean?

A. Pre Owned means that you are likely the second owner of this valuable timepiece. Each watch receives a complete overhaul and polish, all gaskets are changed, it is then water pressure tested and monitored to make sure it is keeping accurate time.

Q. Are all pre-owned Rolex watches certified?

A. Yes

Q. Where is the serial number located?

A. It is located between the bracelet lugs at the “6” marker

Q. What is included with my pre-owned Rolex purchase?

A.Your pre-owned watch comes complete with leather watch box, and independent third party certification validating authenticity.

Q. How do I set the date and time on my watch?

A. Unscrew the crown by turning it counterclockwise. The first stem position is for winding. Gently pull the stem out until it clicks twice and you will be in the time setting mode. Turn the crown until the date wheel changes so you know you the time is 12AM. Ignore the date, you will set that next. Set your watch to the correct time and gently push the crown in so that you are in the date changing mode. Rotate the crown until the date is correctly set. Push in and screw down crown clockwise until it is locked.

Q. I have set the time on my watch but the date changes at 12pm instead of 12am. How do I correct this?

A. Unscrew the crown by turning it counterclockwise. The first stem position is for winding. Gently pull the stem out until it clicks twice and you will be in the time setting mode. Set the time ahead 12 hours. Push the stem in one click and proceed with setting the date. Push in and screw down crown clockwise until it is locked.

Q. I have not worn my watch for a few days and it stopped. How do I get it going again?

A. Unscrew the crown by turning it counterclockwise. Wind the watch clockwise 30 to 40 times. Set time and date. Push in and screw down crown clockwise until it is locked.

Q. Is my watch waterproof?

A. Although your watch has been tested and is waterproof, it is not suggested that you wear your watch while swimming or showering.

Q. How often should my watch be serviced?

A. It is suggested that your watch be serviced regularly to decrease the chances of a costly repair. It is suggested that your watch should be serviced every 5 to 7 years, but there is no set time interval.

Q. How do I clean dirt off of my watch?

A. Make sure that your crown is screwed down and fully locks. Use some soap and water and a soft brush. Rinse in water, but do not submerge.

Q. My watch is off by a few seconds at the end of each day, does it need to be serviced?

A. There are 86,400 seconds in a 24 hour period. You should not be concerned if you watch is fast or slow by a few seconds.

Q. Why does my date not change at exactly 12:00?

A. The date on your watch can change anytime between 11:55pm and 12:05am.

Q. Is it safe to set the time backwards?

A. Yes

Q. Is my pre-owned Rolex covered by a warranty? What does it cover?

A.This is an after-market warranty by Ponte Vecchio, provided on all pre-owned watches for one year from the date of purchase. It covers any defects in the watches movement, however does not cover excessive wear or abuse.

Q. What about post warranty service?

A. All pre-owned watches requiring warranty or service work must be returned to JTV. Any ongoing communication will be handled through the customer care team.

Q. Where do I send my watch for repairs?

A. Watches should be sent to JTV who will forward on for repair.

Q. Why should I buy pre-owned over a new Rolex?

A. Primarily because of the considerable cost savings, and peace of mind knowing your watch has been completely overhauled and certified. Any “new” watch purchase will incur considerable depreciation that you can avoid through the purchase of a certified pre-owned watch.
