The Presidium Moissanite Tester is an entry level instrument that instantly distinguishes moissanites from diamonds based on their electrical properties. The PMTII measures the electrical conductivity of gemstones directly and eliminates the need to activate the switch shaft button. Presidium recommends the use of the Moissanite Tester after a positive test result for diamond is indicated on a thermal conductivity diamond tester, such as PDMT. The Presidium Moissanite Tester II has been developed to identify specifically synthetic moissanite, using the principles of Electrical Conductivity to measure the semi conductor properties of the moissanite. Synthetic moissanite, also known as silicon carbide (SiC), is similar to diamonds in thermal conductivity, thus its capacity to conduct electricity allows segregation between diamonds and moissanite after passing the thermal conductivity test. It is therefore recommended to use PMTII in conjunction with other Presidium thermal conductivity testers. The Presidium Moissanite Tester II has been further enhanced from the first generation Presidium Moissanite Tester to rely on the serrated plates located on the sides of the tester for continuous measurement of the gemstone being tested, without the need to activate the switch shaft button. The Presidium Moissanite Tester II also features a continuous beep with the identification of moissanite. No waiting time between test, a low battery indicator, and low battery warning. Operates on three AAA batteries. Alkaline batteries should be used. Ordinary batteries may be used but will give a shorter working life. Includes detailed instructions.
