Answer:
You have to look on line and search engine how to use it,I just bought this and it comes with NO INSTRUCTION,neitherless to say,I wasn't happy about it.What I read on line it's that some stones would change color and some not and that's how you figure out if they are paste,or enhanced, but you need a chart of reference, and a very high light source,'cause it's so dark you can barely see anything.

Answer:
This filter will tell you if the cocalled a stone is coming from chromium. Some stones are dyed with a chromium dye to enhance their color, and inexpensive stones are sometimes dyed to imitate more expensive stones such as Jade or chrysoprase. It is not a foolproof way to determine an imitation or a treatment, but it can be a powerful tool to help to make that distinction.

What's the diff b/t this filter & the one in the Gem Identification book?

In the very back of my Gem Identification Made Easy book, the chelsea filter advertised is $44.95, and it doesn't say what brand it is. How does THIS filter compare to the one in the book? Thank you to anyone who answers!
