I love a good deal, too, thrifylady, but I don't think this is it. A cushion cut is basically a square or rectangle with rounded corners. The top, bottom and sides are straight. The oval is basically an elongated round. All sides are curved. If you could get the cushion to fit in the oval settings, the sides of the settings would protrude on the setting, if it worked at all. Also, as you can see in the picture, the gemtite prongs are slightly curved to accommodate an oval, and it's very important to the security of the stones that the bezel snaps into that angle. A straight sided stone simple wouldn't fit. Most of JTVs gemtite cushion cut settings are for square gems. I love the cushion cut myself, and with the popularity it is currently enjoying, let's hope for a broader range of sizes in the future. I'd hold out for a true 7x5 gemtite or gemgroove with prongs or bezel setting if you want to set it yourself.
